The performance of concretecontaining more than one admixture should be assessed bytrial mixes.Conplast P505(T) plasticiser is suitable for use with all typesof ordinary portland cements and cement replacementmaterials such as PFA, GGBFS and microsilica.DispensingThe correct quantity of Conplast P505(T) plasticiser shouldbe measured by means of a recommended dispenser. Theadmixture should then be added to the concrete with the mixerwater to obtain the best results. Fosroc shall be contactedfor advice regarding suitable equipment and its installation.Effects of overdosingAn overdose of double the intended amount of ConplastP505(T) plasticiser will result in a significant increase inretardation as compared to that normally obtained at theintended dosage. Provided that adequate curing ismaintained, the ultimate strength of the concrete will not beimpaired by increased retardation and will generally beincreased. The effects of overdosing will be further increasedif sulphate resisting cement or cement replacement materialsare used.Overdosage may also cause increased air entrainment, whichwill tend to reduce strength. The air bubbleshold the cement/water matrix at the contact surfaces whichresults in improved bond strengths.Frost resistance : Where this is a consideration, that airentrainment appreciably increases the frost resistance of thefully cured mortar and also improves that of fresh mortar, asestablished by international practice.Increased yield : The special action of Cebex 112 causesthe cement particles to disperse evenly throughout the mix,which combined with its air entrainment property, expandsthe volume of the mortar. Increase in yield for the samequantities of sand and cement is typically between 8% and18%, depending upon the coarseness or fineness of thesand used.With typical mixes of 1:3 and 1:4 cement : sand, the cost ofCebex 112 will normally be recovered and, in most cases, anet cost saving will be obtained, as a result of the increasedyield.Application instructionsMixingCebex 112 Mortar Plasticiser may be added either direct toan individual mix or to the gauging water, depending uponsite convenience.Direct to the mix1. Use between 0.100 and 0.200 litres of Cebex 112 per100kgs of cement. Soft fine sand will require least and harshsands most. Site trials will best determine the practical rateof addition in each case and are recommended.2. Cebex 112 to be stirred thoroughly before use. Measurethe total required quantity of Cebex 112 and stir into the firstbucket of the gauging water.3. After dry mixing the sand/cement in the normal way, addthe Cebex 112 and start wet mixing.4. Continue adding plain water and mixing the mortar untilthe required workability is obtained.Note : Do not add Cebex 112 directly to dry sand/cementmortar.1.
